1. Nature of the Service
Gloucester Residents Directory is a privately operated reference service. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and directory collections connected with Gloucester, Massachusetts. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with a government office, court, library, or custodian.
2. Acceptable Use
Use the service only for lawful purposes. You may not use it, or information reached through it, to:
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
- Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
- Commit identity theft or fraud
- Make FCRA-regulated decisions (credit, employment, tenant, insurance)
- Scrape, copy, or republish the service's content at scale
- Interfere with the service's operation or security
3. No Consumer Reports
This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Nothing here, or returned by a linked search tool, is a consumer report. It may not be used to determine eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-covered purpose.
4. Links to Outside Sites
Government portals and third-party providers, including sponsored search services, publish their own terms and policies. We do not control their content, availability, charges, or data practices.
5. No Warranties
The service is offered "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that content is accurate, complete, or current, or that an outside portal will work or return a correct result.
6. Limits on Our Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of this service or a linked resource, including decisions based on records reached through it.
7. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold the service operators harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your misuse of the service or breach of these terms.
8. Intellectual Property
The original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. You may link to a page and quote a brief excerpt with attribution, but may not republish full pages or systematically copy the content.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these terms by posting a new version here. Continued use after a revision constitutes acceptance.
10. Cutting Off Access
We may block or limit access for a user who violates these terms or misuses the service, at our discretion and without notice.
11. Governing Law
Massachusetts law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Gloucester public-record requests are governed separately by Massachusetts Public Records Law, G.L. c. 66, § 10, as amended by Chapter 121 of the Acts of 2016; those requests must go to the relevant public custodian.
12. Severability
If a provision of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay effective.
